TRAVEL AWARDS

The Wills Hall Association advertises travel grants annually for current residents (and Senior Residents). These are funded by old members' donations to a number of trusts that are managed by the University for the WHA. The Trustees are the Vice-Chancellor (who delegates to the Finance Office), the President and the Chair of the WHA and applications are sought in the spring of each year.

Grants of up to £1000 per person (overseas) or £600 (UK) are available and projects must have an educational or philanthropic dimension. Applications are also accepted for educational courses, whether or not these involve travel (i.e. online courses are quite acceptable).

The grants for 2020 have been awarded. In spring 2021 this page will include a link to the application process for the next round of grants. Payment is made by bank transfer.

It is a condition of acceptance that grant-holders must write a short report on their travel achievements for publication in the WHA's Yearbook, ideally with photographs where appropriate. We hope to make some of the reports from recent years available on this site, too.

The image at the top of this page is from a 2019 report by Florence Wallace on opening up rock climbing opportunities in Armenia for locals and to encourage the tourist industry.
